RE: Diesel or gas?

A good discussion on this thread. about gas vs diesel. I believe they are looking at about the same price range that you are interested in.

RE: Manufacturers: who has staying power

Jayco is in deep trouble - have it from a very reliable source. Deep layoffs reduced hours and big pay cuts.
In these troubled times with sales down, it sounds like Jayco is practicing good management. I believe Jayco has been through these times before and is doing what it needs to survive.

If your unit is plumbed for a washer/dryer be sure to get some pink stuff in these hot/cold faucets.

RE: I'm confused!

As far as the drop when you load up, I use Timbrens (http://www.timbren.com) to cure that. They work great and once installed take no maintenance and you are not aware they are there.
Frank
Ditto on the Timbrens. Don't affect the ride when empty, and no air to worry about. Got the best price for the Timbrins on my Mega Cab from Truckspring.com in Michigan.

Jayco Designer Cabinet Touch Up Stain

Our Designer has the Provincial Glazed Maple Cabinets. I am looking for a touch up stain. I contacted Jayco and they do not sell any of the stains they use. Has anyone had luck with any of the off the shelf products such as MinWax or some other brand. If so, what color and brand of stain are you using?

RE: Wingard TV antenna leaking

I'll check the rubber boot up on the roof and start there. I didn't see any o-ring come out when the handle assembly fell out but I'll take another look up through hole in the ceiling.
Ron W.
Ron,
Here is the web site for the Winegard Manuals. Look at the model RV-3095 manual on page 4. It will show you the O-Ring and explains the part that should be lubricated. Hope this helps you. :)

RE: Wingard TV antenna leaking

I put some Dicor around the rubber boot...seems to have taken care of the problem.
That's what the Service manager at my dealer suggested. He said this is not unusual.
Also, Wingard suggests spraying some silcone down the shaft. There is an "O" ring that can dry out and let moisture down the shaft. You did put in the "O" ring when you put it back together didn't you.:S

RE: washer dryer weight

You may want to check Camping World for the exact models you are interested in... the following will get you in the ballpark.
Stackable Washer 157lbs
Stackable Dryer 74lbs
Combo unit 148lbs

RE: 2009 Jayco Designer

I just bought an 08 Designer 35RLTS instead of an 09 for that very reason. Also, if you look at specs, the 34RLQS's tongue weight went up from 2300 lbs to 2900 lbs I'm assuming because of the I beam frame change.
I believe the frame change was done strictly for monetary reasons which left me wondering what else has been lessened on the 09's. I could have bought an 09 from RV Direct loaded with just about every option including a generator for the same price as I paid for the 08 which was moderately loaded. They also don't offer the leather sofa on the 09's and that's one of the things I really liked about the 08. There's still some 08's around. You might consider one of them.
I have a 2009 34RLQS. I challange Jayco when their website showed the 2900 lbs Dry Pin Weight. They have now changed the weight to show 2365 lbs DPW. The total dry weight of most of the Designers went down with the 2009 models. Don't know if this was due to the I beam frame or possible some other minor changes. I believe that the new I beam is 12".

RE: 5th Wheel Spirit Level

I've have one on our fifth wheel and it works great. It also has a small level for front to rear leveling. I'm not sure what people mean when they say it doesn't react fast enough. I normally don't back in at 50mph, slam on the brakes, jump out and start leveling. Mine responds about the same as a regular bubble level.

RE: Diesel Fuel Discount Card?

I have a Flying J card (not a credit card) and a Good Sam's card for Petro (again, not a credit card). The credit card I use most often is my Discover Card from Walmart. You get 3 cents off per gallon at Walmart (Murphy Stations) and 1 percent back on all purchases. Pay off at the end of each month...walla a savings.

RE: Feedback wanted on RVdirect.com

When I bought my Designer I showed my local dealer the price RV Direct gave me. My local dealer came within five hundred dollars of Directs price. My local dealer knew I couldn't drive to Iowa for five hundred dollar, and I knew I couldn't drive to Iowa for five hundred...thus we had a deal. However, my local dealer did tell me that if I bought from Direct, he would still be happy to do any warranty work. I'm glad I had a local dealer smart enough to make the deal, and not make me mad by telling me he wouldn't service my unit if I didn't buy from him.

RE: How long should Walk thru at dealership take for inspecting?

I'd reschedule for earlier in the day, even if you have to change dates. Ours took about three hours, and I don't feel it was a real through walk through. While they said they would stick around past five, you may still feel rushed to leave, or to get the fiver home and put away before dark. It's your money, take your time and be sure you understand everything. Good luck and enjoy your new toy.:W

RE: Switch it up,,,good exp. with Chinese Tires

Does anyone know of a scientific study regarding the Chinese tires? There are many on this forum that have posted their life experiences regarding Chinese tires vs. American made vs. some other country. While there is the one recall for 450,000 Chinese tires, this pales in comparision with the Bridgestone/Firestone recall a few years back, they recalled over 6.5 million tires that were built in North America. see Bridgestone Firestone Recall. I have a new trailer that has Goodyear Marathons. I wonder why Goodyear and Jayco would risk their good names by putting on inferior tires. That being said...does anyone have any scientific study of American vs Chinese tires?

RE: OJ found guilty

maybe, just maybe one of his fellow prisoners will take justice in hand.
I said it then and will say it again,, He is guilty and should be beneath the jail!!!
Heck, he will get put in a Country Club jail and the worst that his fellow prisoners will do is spit in his pudding.
